CocktailsProtease and phosphatase inhibitor cocktails are essential to most cell lysis and protein extraction procedures. The inhibitors protect protein samples from degradation and preserve their phosphorylation state.

Protease and phosphatase inhibitor cocktails block or inactivate endogenous proteolytic and phosphorolytic enzymes that release from subcellular compartments during cell lysis and would otherwise degrade proteins of interest and their activation states.

At G-Biosciences, we offer a large selection of protease and phosphatase inhibitor cocktails, protease assays, and screening systems, as well as specific proteases for protein sequencing and mass spectrometry.

Protease Inhibitor Cocktails

Protease inhibitor cocktails are important in the protection of proteins from proteolysis in applications, such as protein extraction, purification, electrophoresis, storage, assays, and more.

During the isolation and characterization of the proteins, proteases release following cell or tissue lysis and degrade the protein sample, which reduces the quality of the protein sample for further analysis.

To prevent degradation of the proteins, you can add a protease inhibitor cocktail, which helps preserve the nature of the protein.

At G-Biosciences, we offer an extensive selection of protease inhibitor cocktails and ready-to-use protease inhibitors suitable for protein purification when added to cell lysis and protein extraction buffers. Our ProteaseArrest™ line of protease inhibitor cocktails are highly stable, ready-to-use, potent, and eliminate waste.

Types of Protease Inhibitor Cocktails

ProteaseArrest™

ProteaseArrest is a broad spectrum, ready-to-use 100x concentrated inhibitor cocktail solution for general use. The cocktail has contains a mixture of both reversible and irreversible inhibitors of serine, cysteine, calpain, and metalloproteases.

It is suitable for various applications, including the inhibition of protease activity in protein preparations of mammalian, bacteria, plant, yeast, and fungal lysates. The cocktail also protects proteins from proteolysis in applications such as electrophoresis, purification, storage, and assays.

>95% inhibition is achieved by adding 10µl per ml sample, so the 100x solution is ideal for small, analytical sample applications. For samples with higher protease levels, you can increase the volume of ProteaseArrest™ for greater inhibition levels.

FOCUS ProteaseArrest™

FOCUS ProteaseArrest™ is a highly potent, ready-to-use, 100x concentrated, broad range protease inhibitor cocktail that is compatible with 2D electrophoresis and subsequent mass spectrometry. It contains reversible and irreversible inhibitors of serine, cysteine, calpain, and metalloproteases.

FOCUS™ Protease Arrest™ is compatible with 2D electrophoresis as it uses an alternative to EDTA as an inhibitor of metalloproteases. The absence of EDTA allows for optimal action of nucleases or removing nucleic acids from the samples. It is also suitable for inhibition of protease activity in protein preparations and 2D gel sample preparation for the protection of protein samples.

Plant ProteaseArrest™

Plant ProteaseArrest™ is a 100x concentrated protease inhibitor cocktail featuring plant serine, cysteine, and other plant-specific protease inhibitors to target aminopeptidases, aspartic, and metalloproteases. It is ideal for plant cells and tissue extracts.

Bacterial ProteaseArrest™

Bacterial ProteaseArrest is a bacterial, broad range, 100x concentrated, ready-to-use protease inhibitor cocktail. It inhibits bacterial serine, cysteine, and other bacterial specific proteases, including aminopeptidases and aspartic proteases. It is suitable for bacterial cell extracts and inhibition of protease activity in protein preparations of bacterial lysates.

Phosphatase Inhibitor Cocktails

Phosphatase inhibitor cocktails inhibit a number of phosphatases, including specific serine/threonine and tyrosine phosphatases, as well as non-specific acid and alkaline phosphatases. They preserve the phosphorylation state of proteins during and after cell lysis or tissue protein extraction allowing the study of the key phosphorylation regulation pathways.

Types of Phosphatase Inhibitor Cocktails

PhosphataseArrest™ I

PhosphataseArrest™ I is a broad spectrum phosphatase inhibitor cocktail consisting of five inhibitors that target serine/threonine-specific, tyrosine specific, and dual-specificity phosphatases. It is a stabilized solution of sodium fluoride, sodium orthovanadate, sodium pyrophosphate, β-glycerophosphate & sodium molybdate.

PhosphataseArrest™ II

PhosphataseArrest™ II is a phosphatase inhibitor cocktail that includes five phosphatase inhibitors that target acid, alkaline and tyrosine phosphatases. It contains optimized concentrations of sodium fluoride, sodium tartrate, sodium orthovanadate, imidazole, and sodium molybdate.

PhosphataseArrest™ III

PhosphataseArrest™ III is a phosphatase inhibitor cocktail that consists of three phosphatase inhibitors that target alkaline and serine/threonine phosphatases. It is a stable, convenient solution of cantharidin, p-bromotetramisole oxalate and calyculin.
