The Protein Man

In 1994, the vision of one man became a reality as Geno Technology became an incorporated company and began offering its first invention, the GeneCAPSULE.  The inventor and current CEO of the company is Dr. Aftab Alam, who in the infancy of the company wore every hat imaginable, including inventor, designer, manufacturer, marketer, sales rep and customer service.

Dr. Aftab Alam describes himself as an inventor, scientist, and entrepreneur and this is supported by 21 patents, 18 publications, and a successful 24-year-old company.  Dr. Alam walked many floors and knocked on many doors to garnish interest in GeneCAPSULE whilst inventing more products.

Patented Technologies & OEM

One of his first patents was issued in 2011 for a “Dialysis Device” that would later become Geno Technologies popular Tube-O-Dialyzer.  Although direct sales were coming in, Dr. Alam knew that he alone couldn’t grow the business and he needed to find other opportunities.  Reaching out to the big players in the Life Science field, Geno Technologies was able to partner with several of these companies, offering both our patented technologies as OEM, but also developing specific products to enhance their product lines.  These relationships have proved very successful; they have grown and still exist today. Download our case studies for a review of some of these unique and valuable opportunities.

From GenoTech to G-Biosciences

Over the following years, Geno Technologies, otherwise known as GenoTech, continued to see business growth through product development, expansion of our product line, and OEM opportunities.

The key areas of growth included:

  • Protein Extraction Reagents & Tools
  • Protein Assays
  • Protein Stains
  • Sample Clean-up & Concentration

By 2004, GenoTech had outgrown its own name – a business once founded on a capsule for DNA and RNA extraction had morphed into a protein and proteomics business.  This and the confusion of our name with a leading pharmaceutical company created a major rebranding endeavor – G-Biosciences was launched!

Protein Man & G-Capsule

Our rebranding and continued product development and additions led to our GeneCAPSULE being renamed to G-Capsule, as it works with nucleic acids and proteins, and “The Protein Man” was born to become the face of the company.

CB™ PROTEIN ASSAY: A Bradford Protein Assay

CB Protein Assay Graph

An improved Coomassie Dye based protein assay based on the Bradford Protein Assay. This assay is suitable for the simple and rapid estimation of protein concentration. This assay is based on a single Coomassie dye based reagent. The binding of protein to the dye results in a change of color from brown to blue. The change in color density is proportional to protein concentration. Protein estimation can be performed using as little as 0.5µg protein.

Features

  • Sensitivity: Linear responses over the range of 0.5µg-50µg protein
  • Flexible Protocols: Suitable for tube or Titer plate assays
  • Ready to use assay reagents and no preparation required
  • Long shelf life, stable for 12 months
